TÜRKSAT, Turkey's public company operating in the field of cable and satellite broadcasting, is now entering the mobile communications market. The company, which operates under the Turkey Wealth Fund, will separate its cable and broadcasting services with a regulation to be submitted to Parliament in the new legislative term. Following this separation, TÜRKSAT will have the legal framework in place to provide services in the field of mobile communications.

PLANNED TO START SERVICE IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2026

If the new regulation is passed by Parliament, TÜRKSAT aims to begin providing services as a mobile operator before the end of the first quarter of 2026. Thus, Turkey's fourth mobile operator will be launched, following Turkcell, Vodafone, and Türk Telekom.

TURKEY WEALTH FUND'S INFLUENCE IN THE SECTOR WILL INCREASE

Currently, major shares of two of the three large mobile operators operating in Turkey (Türk Telekom and Turkcell) are under public control. The fact that TÜRKSAT will also enter the sector entirely under the control of the Turkey Wealth Fund will increase the number of publicly owned operators. This situation is considered an important development in terms of competition and market balance.

TÜRKSAT HAS COMPLETED ITS PREPARATIONS

It is stated that the company has reached the final stage in its infrastructure and technical preparations. With the enactment of the necessary regulation, TÜRKSAT plans to integrate its existing cable infrastructure and technological expertise into the provision of mobile services.
