Rockstar Games was recently the target of one of the largest cyberattacks in recent times. The source code for the company's highly popular title, GTA V, was leaked in recent days. It was later revealed that these files contained more than just GTA V code.
THE ENTIRE DATASET WILL BE LEAKED
"Because there is such a high demand for the source code, the Telegram channel will remain private for a while longer, then I will make it public so you monkeys can do whatever you want with it."
In a report shared by Webtekno, it was noted that the 4 GB of files shared by the hacker also included information regarding titles such as GTA 6, Agent, Bully 2, and Midnight Club 5. If the entire 200 GB of data is leaked, Rockstar will suffer significant damage.
On the other hand, it has emerged that the shared files also included the work email addresses of employees. Information and email addresses belonging to exactly 1,158 employees are among the leaked code. While it is not expected for such information to be included in code files, Rockstar appears to have fallen victim to negligence here.
Once such leaks occur, they can create problems for companies in every aspect, from the marketing and development of games to copyrights and confidentiality agreements. This is why companies make serious efforts to prevent such leaks. Furthermore, leaks can lead to incomplete or incorrect information circulating, which can significantly increase the production costs of games.
