Tourists trying to find their way using Google Maps get stuck in a swamp
Two German tourists followed directions from Google Maps, leading them deep into the Australian wilderness, one of the world's wildest regions, and it took them a week to find their way out.

Philipp Maier and Marcel Schoene wanted to take a small day trip from the tropical city of Cairns, Queensland, in the southeast of the Cape York Peninsula, to the small town of Bamaga, 40 km away, but this attempt dragged them into a week-long survival adventure covering approximately 1,000 km.
According to the report on Chip.com.tr, the pair followed the directions of Google's navigation service, turning off the Peninsula Developmental Road, the region's main transport link, onto a dirt road and into a national park. Sixty kilometers later, their four-wheel-drive vehicle got stuck in the mud, and they were forced to continue on foot.
The area where the couple got lost is home to some of Australia's wildest nature, with only 18,000 people living in an area the size of England.

Although the couple tried to leave their vehicle and turn back, heavy rains and storms caused the region to flood. As they searched for a way out, they moved toward even more obscure locations, and after a terrifying experience in this wilderness filled with crocodiles and snakes for a week, day and night, they managed to return to the main road.
Google announced that it is investigating the reasons for this misdirection.
