'Trace of Memory: Neolithic City Çatalhöyük' exhibition meets art lovers in Istanbul
The Atatürk Cultural Center continues to host distinguished events covering every field of art and culture. The 'Trace of Memory: Neolithic City Çatalhöyük' exhibition awaits its visitors until January 7. The exhibition, which held its official opening on December 20 and was subsequently introduced with a panel, brings the history of the lands we live on to the AKM Gallery in its own unique language.

Prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the “Trace of Memory: Neolithic City Çatalhöyük” exhibition is being presented to art lovers at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM).
Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the "Trace of Memory: Neolithic City Çatalhöyük" exhibition has opened to visitors at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM).
Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, and Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca toured the exhibition, examined the works on display, and received information from the artists.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that Çatalhöyük is one of the rare settlements that has maintained urban life for 10 thousand years, and expressed that they are making efforts to promote Çatalhöyük, which is recognized by UNESCO as the world's first settled life.
Mayor Altay said that there has been a significant increase in the number of visitors following the opening of the Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center.
He stated that the exhibition would make a significant contribution to the promotion of Çatalhöyük.
Çatalhöyük holds great importance as an archaeological site that bears the traces of the world's first settled life and is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The exhibition aims to offer viewers the opportunity to experience the traces of the past from a modern perspective by combining the rich cultural heritage of Çatalhöyük with contemporary art. The works featured in the exhibition include painting, sculpture, ceramics, and video installation pieces.
Çatalhöyük Excavation Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Umut Türkcan stated that the exhibition is an important example that brings not only Çatalhöyük but also an archaeological site in Turkey together with modern art. Türkcan expressed that it is significant that Çatalhöyük is being brought to Istanbul, Turkey's art capital, with an international brand value through this exhibition.
The exhibition will be open to visitors at the Istanbul AKM until January 7, 2024. With this event, Turkey's rich archaeological heritage will be presented to viewers by combining it with contemporary art.
