Turkish radar MILSAR exported to a UAV manufacturer for the first time
Meteksan Defence has achieved a significant milestone for the Turkish defense industry by exporting its MILSAR radar to a UAV manufacturer for the first time. The contract, signed for integration into the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) GARMOOSHA unmanned aerial vehicle, was announced at the IDEX 2025 International Defence Exhibition.

The Multi-Mode Airborne Radar MILSAR, developed within the Turkish defense industry and already in use on national unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has achieved its first export success to a UAV manufacturer.
MILSAR stands out as a radar that maintains its effectiveness during long mission durations, in poor weather conditions where electro-optical systems become ineffective, and even above clouds. As a critical payload for UAVs used in reconnaissance, surveillance, suppression, and attack operations, this radar has the capacity to provide moving target detection and high-resolution radar imagery. Integrated into the GARMOOSHA UAV, MILSAR will also provide new capabilities such as the detection and tracking of potential targets.
MILSAR distinguishes itself from its counterparts
Thanks to its advanced technology and the use of innovative architectural approaches, MILSAR has been lightened and downsized, distinguishing itself from its counterparts by remaining within the power capacity that a tactical UAV can generate.
With its weight of under 30 kilograms, its capacity to capture high-resolution imagery from long ranges, and its ease of integration into platforms, MILSAR ranks among the most important payload options for UAVs.
The radar performs the detection and tracking of potential targets using "Moving Target Indication" (MTI) modes, and features Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) modes for high-resolution radar imagery in all weather conditions, target classification, and terrain topography generation.
GARMOOSHA, on the other hand, was designed as an advanced rotary-wing UAV for tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. GARMOOSHA holds the distinction of being the first entirely UAE-made UAV in its class.
