These updates will both simplify the management of media content and allow users to communicate without sharing their phone numbers.
WhatsApp will allow users to see all media files shared within a chat on a single screen with a new feature called the Chat Media Center. This feature is being developed for WhatsApp Web users and will allow media files to be filtered by date, size, and sender. Additionally, users will be able to select multiple media files and manage them in bulk.
COMMUNICATION WITHOUT PHONE NUMBERS
Another innovation is the ability to communicate via username. Thanks to this feature, users will be able to message each other using only their usernames without sharing their phone numbers. Users will be able to set a unique username in their profile settings and be found through searches using this name. This is seen as an important step in protecting personal information, especially in situations such as group chats or business meetings.
EXTRA SECURITY
To increase the security of this new system, WhatsApp is also adding a special PIN protection for usernames. This PIN will ensure that only people you allow can contact you and will provide effective protection against spam messages.
Both features are currently being tested by a limited number of beta users. WhatsApp plans to roll out these features to all users following these tests. Although an exact release date has not yet been announced, these innovations are expected to be widely available in the near future.
