The Turkish Men's National Basketball Team defeated Switzerland 85-60 away from home in their second match of the FIBA 2027 World Cup European Qualifiers Group C.
The 12 Giant Men have now gone 2-for-2 in the group, while Switzerland suffered their second defeat.
The National Team led 8-7 in the first 3 minutes of the match, which began with baskets from both sides. Tightening their defense and denying Switzerland easy scoring opportunities, the Crescent-Stars extended the lead to double digits in the 7th minute with baskets from Ömer Faruk Yurtseven and Tarık Biberovic: 9-19. Turkey finished the first period, in which Tarık scored 10 points, leading 23-17.
In a high-tempo second quarter, the national team allowed Switzerland only 8 points and widened the gap with consecutive successful outside shots, heading into the locker room with a 41-25 lead.
Taking full control against a Switzerland side that faded in the third period, the National Team utilized the paint effectively. The national players finished this quarter, in which Yiğitcan Saybir produced 15 points, leading 65-42.
Playing a comfortable game in the fourth and final quarter and further extending the lead, Turkey left the court with an 85-60 victory.
The match, which was sold out, was followed by 3 thousand spectators. The vast majority of the stands were filled by Turkish fans.
