Ilıcalı stated, "In our meetings with our coach Jose Mourinho, we determined a different roadmap regarding the center-forward position. Our transfer efforts and negotiations are continuing positively. I want our fans to know this as well. If we had desired, we would have kept Batshuayi on the team. Michy Batshuayi, who was transferred from Chelsea in the 2022 summer transfer window for a transfer fee of 3.5 million Euros, appeared in 75 official matches for the yellow-navy team. Batshuayi contributed 44 goals and 5 assists in these matches.
