In a statement released by the Slovenian club, it was announced that 35-year-old Tanrıvermiş has been appointed as the head coach.

Signing a 2-year contract with Maribor, Tuğberk Tanrıvermiş stated on the club's social media, "I can promise the fans that under my leadership, the team will dedicate all its effort to hard work. I will do everything to win trophies and be known for our attacking style of play."

The Slovenian side, which finished the 2024-2025 season in second place, will compete in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.

Tanrıvermiş, who began his coaching career in the Galatasaray youth academy and served as an assistant coach for the senior team, as well as head coach for the Roma U18 and Spezia U19 teams, took charge of the Austrian second-tier side St. Pölten in October.

When he took over, St. Pölten was in 12th place with 9 points after 9 weeks of play; under Tanrıvermiş's management, the team finished the season in 4th place with 53 points.
