Acun Ilıcalı: 'We have made a major investment for success at Hull City'

Hull City Chairman Acun Ilıcalı, in an interview with BBC Radio Humberside, explained the club's preparation process for the new season and the policy they will follow in the transfer market. Pointing out that revenues from the Premier League are paid in installments, Ilıcalı said, "The money comes in installments over the long term. However, we need to invest in high-value players in a short time. That is why we are using credit to bring the cash flow forward."

Evaluating the investments he has made in Hull City over the past years, Ilıcalı said, "I have transferred 120 million pounds to the club in about 5 years. If we hadn't made it to the Premier League, I was ready to spend another 20 million, and even another 20 million again. My goal is not to be an ordinary team. For me, the importance of money is that it is a tool to achieve success."

Also touching on the departure of sporting director Jared Dublin, Ilıcalı stated that changes are natural in the professional football world, saying, "He made significant contributions to the team. However, we could not agree on some issues. The interests of Hull City are my priority."

Making striking assessments regarding the transfer window, Ilıcalı stated, "We could add 12-13 new players to the squad throughout the summer. We will buy players at the 10, 15, or even 20 million pound level. We are moving fast to find the right names, but we are not rushing enough to make mistakes." He also indicated that two or three transfers could become official in a short time.

Speaking about the names who will rejoin the team, Ilıcalı said, "Oscar Zambrano is a special player. We are very happy that he will be returning to Hull City."

CLARIFIED TRANSFER RUMORS

Clarifying the transfer rumors surrounding the team, Ilıcalı said, "90 percent of the names circulating in the press are not true. We are not interested in anyone from the Turkish league right now. However, it is my dream to add a young Turkish player with natural talent who plays outside the country to our squad. I spoke with him; I was very impressed, and I think he felt the same emotions."

Touching on other names on Hull City's list, the chairman explained that players such as Toni Fruk, Rokas Pukstas, and Marco Pasalic have not been transferred yet, but they are alternatives on the transfer table. Ilıcalı stated that it is important to make the right decision at the right time regarding the transfer of these players.

Speaking about Elliot Stroud, Ilıcalı said, "The transfer is not finished, but we are at a good point in the process. We like the player and we have great respect for his club. If we can convince his club, we can complete the transfer."

Regarding the course of the transfer process before the training camp, Ilıcalı expressed the uncertainty of the process with the words, "We might not make any transfers this week, or we might announce one or two names. With the addition of Oscar Zambrano, the number will be at most three."

GOALKEEPER REINFORCEMENT ON THE AGENDA

Stating that they want to increase competition in goal, Ilıcalı conveyed that one of their transfer targets is the goalkeeper position. "We want to have two top-level goalkeepers in the squad. Because a single injury can turn all our plans upside down. After Jack Butland, we will transfer another good goalkeeper. I think we are lucky in this regard," he said.
