The election for the presidency of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) will be held on July 18. Along with the current president, Mehmet Büyükekşi, the confirmed candidates were Servet Yardımcı and İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu. İsmail Uyanık and Erdal Alkış, who had previously announced their candidacies, have not yet taken the official steps.
Yardımcı withdrew from the candidacy and released a scathing statement while doing so. However, despite his announcement that he had withdrawn, Servet Yardımcı's name was still included among the candidates in the announcement made by the TFF for the presidential election.
According to the candidacy applications that ended on July 11, 2024, in accordance with Article 38 of the TFF Statute, İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, Mehmet Büyükekşi, and Servet Yardımcı are candidates.
It is not yet known why Servet Yardımcı's application was approved despite his announcement that he had withdrawn, in which he also stated that he was leaving his positions at UEFA.
With only a few days left until the election and the situation in such disarray, former referee Ahmet Çakar made a noteworthy post. Revealing his choice before the election, Çakar shared the following:
"As is known, my vote in the TFF presidential election is for İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu. According to the information I have received, Sivasspor President Mecnun Odyakmaz will also become the TFF Vice President after consulting with the leading figures of Sivas. I would very much like this to happen. Friends, we can never hand over Turkish football again and again to a BYLOCK user. Mr. Hacıosmanoğlu and Mr. Odyakmaz, move forward..."
