Süper Lig side Corendon Alanyaspor's president Hasan Çavuşoğlu has made evaluations regarding their 2-2 away draw against Fenerbahçe.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Cengiz Aydoğan Facilities, Çavuşoğlu stated that the Fenerbahçe-Alanyaspor match has been the most discussed topic in Turkey since Sunday, February 11, due to missed red cards and a penalty decision.
"We watched the match, but we did not make a statement in the heat of the moment," said Çavuşoğlu. "I am not someone who makes statements all the time. All clubs have suffered from referee errors. However, in the Fenerbahçe match we just played, the referee errors directly affected the result. There was a possibility that the opposing team could have gone to the locker room with 9 or 10 players in the first half. The entire public has also stated that a penalty was given at the beginning of the second half that should not have been."
Arguing that the referee errors in the match directly affected Alanyaspor, Çavuşoğlu claimed that penalties and red cards were also overlooked not only in this match but also in their matches against Pendikspor, MKE Ankaragücü, and Gaziantep FK.
Emphasizing that referee errors are a part of football and that such things may happen in the future, Çavuşoğlu stated, "I have never started a discussion by targeting referees, and I never will. Because they will make mistakes too. But the errors in this match were right in front of the referees' eyes. Therefore, the penalty given and the two red cards not given were voiced by the public. I hope our referees will be more careful in the process ahead."
"ALANYASPOR IS AN HONORABLE, DIGNIFIED CLUB"
Çavuşoğlu also reacted to the "match-fixing bonus" rumors that have recently surfaced on social media regarding the Fenerbahçe match.
Stating that no one would dare to approach them with such an offer, Çavuşoğlu spoke as follows:
"Alanyaspor is an honorable, dignified club. Everyone knows this. No one can approach us in such a way. We are playing football. We don't need anything. Thank God, this club is managed very well. This club doesn't need anything from anyone. This club is in a position to solve everything with its own management. Therefore, we are not people who will pay much attention to what random and obscure people say. We have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with them or face them. We are just doing our job. We are calculating how to keep a district team afloat in the Süper Lig and how to stay in this league. As long as we are here, we will do this."
ADANA DEMİRSPOR MATCH
Reminding that they will play an important league match at home against Adana Demirspor on Sunday, February 18, Çavuşoğlu said, "We will play against a serious and strong team. The only thing our fans and Alanya need to do is come to the stands and support Alanyaspor. Do not leave our Alanyaspor alone. There is no other Alanyaspor. Alanya and Alanyaspor belong to all of us. Let's carry out this work in unity and solidarity. I hope we will be in better places all together. But if you just watch from afar while only the club management runs this business, don't be offended, but no one has a right to speak. Therefore, let's run it together, let's manage it together, let's be in the stands together, and let's support Alanyaspor together."
