Ali Koç announces he is stepping down

Union of Clubs Foundation President Ali Koç has announced that he will step down from his post at next week's election, stating, "There is a need for fresh blood."

The meeting held to determine the new president of the Union of Clubs Foundation has concluded. The meeting, which took place at the foundation's headquarters in Maslak, was attended by Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç, Beşiktaş Club President Hasan Arat, Trabzonspor Club President Ertuğrul Doğan, Galatasaray Club Second President Metin Öztürk, and presidents or representatives of other clubs in the Süper Lig.

Speaking after the meeting, Ali Koç stated that the opinions of everyone in attendance were taken regarding the decision on the presidency, and that a new president would be elected next week.

Regarding the possibility of continuing his presidency, Koç said, "This is my second term. I think there is a need for fresh blood in the Union of Clubs Foundation now. That is why we will announce our new president next week."

When asked about the names emerging for the presidency, Ali Koç said, "It was decided that it would be appropriate not to mention any names, at their request, among the candidates we discussed."

Speaking after the meeting, Beşiktaş Club President Hasan Arat said, "There were those who nominated me, but my priority is Beşiktaş."
