Fenerbahçe Beko and Beşiktaş GAİN faced off in the Turkish Cup final, with the match ending in a 17-point victory for Fenerbahçe. After the game, Beşiktaş head coach Dusan Alimpijevic made statements regarding the refereeing decisions during the match.
Stating that they respect their strong opponents, Alimpijevic expressed his feelings as follows:
"I feel terrible. First of all, Fenerbahçe is the leader of the EuroLeague. They are a truly great team, they have a great coach. They are the last EuroLeague champions and we have great respect for Fenerbahçe.
Still, I cannot accept this anymore. Yes, everyone will say 'coach, the game ended by 17 points,' but we took 6 free throws in the first half and 8 in the second half. Fenerbahçe took 30 free throws. Dotson got five fouls, Jonah got 3 fouls early. Who are we going to play with? Then what are we talking about 17 points for? Yes, the game ended with a 17-point difference. Fenerbahçe is a better team than us, I congratulate them. Still, let us play!
You don't need to be a coach in the Turkish League to see this; I can see it even when watching the games on TV. Who knows how many times this has happened?"
