Legendary Ukrainian football figure Andriy Shevchenko has been appointed president of the Ukrainian Football Association.

Andriy Shevchenko has been elected president of the Ukrainian Football Association.

In a statement released by the federation, it was announced that Shevchenko, who ran as the sole candidate in the congress held in the capital, Kyiv, was elected to the presidency.

The 47-year-old Shevchenko, who enjoyed numerous championships during his playing career at Dynamo Kyiv, Milan, and Chelsea, took on managerial roles for the Ukraine national team and Genoa after retiring from his playing career.

Shevchenko also holds the title of the top scorer for the Ukraine national team, having scored 48 goals in 111 matches.
