In a statement released by FIFA, it was announced that Borussia Dortmund's participation in the Club World Cup was confirmed following Leipzig's elimination by Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16.

FORMAT OF THE FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP
FIFA announced the new format of the Club World Cup in an announcement made last year. The tournament, which will be hosted by the USA between June 15 and July 13, 2025, will feature 32 teams from 6 different confederations.
There will be 8 groups of 4 teams in the tournament, and teams will play each other in a single match during the group stage. The teams that finish in the top two of their groups will advance to the next round. Subsequent knockout matches will also be played as single-leg ties. There will be no third-place match held during the tournament.
