Arda Turan reveals his dream: I want to change the destiny of my country

Eyüpspor manager Arda Turan made significant remarks to the Spanish newspaper Marca.

The young manager, who is counting down the days to promotion to the Süper Lig, said, "We worked very hard and we will achieve this with the greatest success ever seen in Turkey, in a much shorter time than expected. But what makes me even happier is our style of play and our philosophy, which is not seen in Süper Lig teams or our rivals in the Second League: we don't just possess the ball, we also run. I have respect for my players and I have two rules: I never make promises for the future and I never lie. But above all, they are human beings to me, and I care more about their private lives than football. If their wife is pregnant, if someone in their family dies, if you are going through difficulties or experiencing happiness, just tell me and take leave."

'I WANT TO CHANGE THE DESTINY OF MY COUNTRY'

Revealing his dream, Turan said, "My dream is not just to win things, but to change the destiny of my country. I want people to say that Arda's team plays very well. We want to be an example not just to our own team, but to everyone. Of course, I am not Cruyff, I cannot be like him, but I want to change things in Turkish football."

Speaking about Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, Turan said, "As a player, I was a bit uncontrolled, so he liked seeing me like that. I knew Diego Simeone was a great manager, but now that I do the same profession, I understand him much better, I empathize with him more. It is not easy to achieve the successes he has reached."

"What I do in defense is Simeone's 4-4-2, but I asked him why he plays with 5-3-2 now. He said he liked this method. I liked it a lot too. I think it will be a very good example for the future of Turkish football. Because we are at a level slightly below what we want in terms of talent, and to improve, we need to start from defense; we need to have many players behind us. We are working hard and studying other great coaches, so we will try Diego Simeone's five-man defense. In attack, we will continue with 4-3-3, 4-3-1-2, or 4-3-1-2. Depending on the team, 5-4-1. But the system is not that important anymore."
