It was stated that during the attack, the young girl was also harmed and that banners belonging to some fans were seized. It was noted that had it not been for the intervention of a traffic police officer passing by the scene, the situation could have led to much more dire consequences.
According to the report on NtvSpor, the club announced that it would pursue legal action against those who carried out the attack and those who incited this act. Furthermore, it was emphasized that while the club president called for restraint in the face of these events, such incidents are triggered by the provocative attitudes of certain media figures. The club stated that it is determined to cleanse Turkish sports of hate speech and such behaviors.
The statement made regarding the matter is as follows:
"Last night, one of our members and his 14-year-old daughter were attacked by a group of approximately 40 people as they were leaving our Galatasaray Women's Volleyball Team's match.
These bandits, who stooped so low as to strike a little girl, also seized the banners in our siblings' hands. If a traffic police officer had not happened to be passing by, we might be talking about irreversible consequences today.
Our club will never let go of these looters, their instigators, and the people who provoked them through legal channels.
When our President emphasized restraint, he was expressing his concern about exactly this and similar potential events. However, at the same time, bigoted, provocative so-called managers like Uğur Dündar, who is the embodiment of the fanaticism we followed in a broadcast last night, are striving to bring events to this point.
We will continue to fight against this insidious mentality that considers every path permissible for success. No matter what you do, we will pull out the seeds of hatred you have sown in this country one by one. We will erase the language of hatred you feed on from Turkish sports."
