According to the statement from the Turkish Sports Federation for the Intellectually Disabled, Aysel Önder ran the 400 meters in 57.54 seconds at the championships held in Reims, France, breaking the previous world record of 58.12 seconds held by Poland's Barbara B. Niewiedzial and claiming the gold medal.
National athletes secured a total of 8 medals on the second day of the event, including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze.
