Fenerbahçe President Aziz Yıldırım has announced that he will step down from his presidential duties at the end of the season. Speaking to journalist Feridun Niğdelioğlu, Yıldırım stated that whether the yellow-navy team finishes the season with success or failure will not change his decision.
Yıldırım also made assessments regarding the resignation process of head coach İsmail Kartal following the Roma match and his subsequent continuation in the role. Emphasizing that they stand behind Kartal, Yıldırım said, “As long as I am here, İsmail Kartal will remain. We did not spend extra effort to convince him; we asked him directly, 'Are you continuing or not, what is your final decision?' He replied, 'My final decision is that I am continuing.'”
Touching on the team's current situation, Yıldırım said that the squad is not yet fully ready but that he is hopeful regarding their Champions League performance.
Yıldırım stated, “The team is not yet fully ready, but as I promised, I got Fenerbahçe into the Champions League. I trust and believe in this team to the end in the Champions League. By collecting much better points in the matches, it will bring both significant financial resources and important points to our club.”
