Fenerbahçe President Aziz Yıldırım directed harsh criticism at the previous management over the N’Golo Kante transfer during his speech at the High Council Meeting.
Yıldırım reacted to claims regarding Kante being sold and statements made on the matter, addressing Ertan Torunoğulları. Drawing attention to the amount spent on the transfer, Yıldırım stated, “They say we are going to sell Kante. Go ahead and sell him for the money we paid! I have given you the authority, go ahead.”
Yıldırım stated that the expenses incurred by the club within the scope of this transfer must be covered, saying, “Bring back as much money as Fenerbahçe has spent to date. Transfer the remaining debt to the team that buys him.”
Touching upon the image rights clause in Kante’s contract, Yıldırım argued that it would be difficult to transfer the player under these conditions. Yıldırım reacted with the words, “You made an agreement with the man, for God’s sake. No one will buy him.”
“You have given 5 million euros in image rights. And while giving the image rights, if we cannot find anyone from anywhere to pay it, Fenerbahçe Club will cover the 5 million euros for the image. For God’s sake, don’t do this, don’t make me talk.”
Yıldırım stated that discussing transfer issues in public makes the players a target, adding, “Only announce it to the public if we ask for your help to sell him. But I have given you the authority now. Write whatever document you want, I will sign it.”
