Aziz Yıldırım's harsh reaction to Galatasaray: Implication of match-fixing

Yıldırım made a statement regarding a post shared on Galatasaray's social media account.

Here is Aziz Yıldırım's statement;

To the Attention of the Public,

The fact that the Galatasaray Sports Club board of directors and communications departments, in their statement, chose to target the Fenerbahçe Sports Club and make implications of "match-fixing" against our club instead of highlighting their own achievements and focusing on themselves, shows us that this community has still not been able to overcome its Fenerbahçe complex.

We strongly condemn these ugly and overstepping implications made against the Fenerbahçe Sports Club.

We advise those who try to cast aspersions on Fenerbahçe to first look at their own history. It is clear through court rulings and registered official publications that our Fenerbahçe has never engaged in match-fixing in its history.

For a mentality that has the shadow of lobbies, dark alliances formed behind closed doors, and self-interest relationships behind its achievements throughout its history to use the word "match-fixing" today is the embodiment of audacity in the history of Turkish sports.

We would like to clearly state the following to those who try to make "match-fixing" implications against Fenerbahçe; our words from the past and the statements for which we were acquitted in court are below;

"In the press conference held by Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Aziz Yıldırım on 26.05.2016, following the Ziraat Turkish Cup final played between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, he said, 'Aziz Yıldırım did not engage in match-fixing. But Galatasaray did. Right before our eyes', 'It is Galatasaray that introduced match-fixing to this country. Has everyone forgotten the 8-0 score... The cars...', 'But it is said that in 2000, Fethullah Gülen prayed and made Galatasaray the champion. I have no such thing', 'Watch the last 5 minutes of their Sturm Graz match. Is there match-fixing or not?', 'But Galatasaray is always match-fixing. Do not make me talk more, they cannot handle what comes out. No one can handle it', 'First, everyone will be decent, everyone will be a man'"

We especially want the public to know this; as of the 2026-2027 season, you will no longer find a divided, fragmented community before you, but the great Fenerbahçe community that knows how to be a single fist when necessary.
