Aziz Yıldırım: 'Let us lose the presidency and the board, but let Fenerbahçe be the champion'

Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Aziz Yıldırım said, "Fenerbahçe winning and becoming champion makes us all happy. I said for the Galatasaray match, 'We will beat Galatasaray.' We have reached a point where if we become champions, our chances of being elected will decrease. Let us lose the presidency and the board, but let Fenerbahçe be the champion anyway."

Aziz Yıldırım, who is a candidate in the ordinary elective general assembly to be held at Fenerbahçe Club on May 30-31, or June 8-9 if a majority is not reached, met with congress members.

Meeting with congress members at a restaurant in Kalamış, Aziz Yıldırım entered the venue accompanied by chants and torches.

In his speech at the dinner, which drew intense interest from congress members, Yıldırım said, "We are all Fenerbahçe fans. Fenerbahçe winning and becoming champion makes us all happy. I said for the Galatasaray match, 'We will beat Galatasaray.' We have reached a point where if we become champions, our chances of being elected will decrease.

Let us lose the presidency and the board. But let Fenerbahçe be the champion anyway. The children have not been happy for 10 years. The reason I am a candidate is these children. I became a candidate because this course of events will harm the club. If we become champions, the children of Fenerbahçe will not be sad," he stated.

"WE MUST PROTECT FENERBAHÇE"

Emphasizing that amateur branches continue to be successful at Fenerbahçe, Yıldırım said the following:

"We are a sports club. Amateur branches are continuing in the way we left them. I hope our team that reached the Final Four will become champion and bring this cup for the second time. Whoever wins the election, the Fenerbahçe community must continue in unity and solidarity, just as it did on July 3. Whoever is elected, it does not matter at all.

We are Fenerbahçe, we are the greatest, and we are obliged to be the greatest. This is the club that revived the Kuva-yi Milliye (National Forces). We saw this on July 3. Let us all embrace the Republic of Turkey and work for this country to move forward. I love you all very much. We are Fenerbahçe. Since 1919, we have done everything for the establishment of this republic. That is why we must protect Fenerbahçe; we must make peace, not fight."

Following his speech, Aziz Yıldırım thanked the congress members for their support.
