Aziz Yıldırım's 'FETÖ' response to Ali Koç! 'They make such claims about me and...'

Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Aziz Yıldırım has responded to remarks by current president Ali Koç, in which Koç allegedly implied that Yıldırım had ties to FETÖ. Stating, "Now they are implying that I am a FETÖ member," Yıldırım said, "You won't find a FETÖ member in me. You will find a Kemalist, a patriot, and a secular Fenerbahçe supporter, nothing else."

In Fenerbahçe, which has been unable to end its 10-year championship drought and finished the season without a trophy, all eyes have turned to the ordinary general assembly with elections.

Current president Ali Koç and former president Aziz Yıldırım will compete in the presidential election, which the Yellow-Navy community is eagerly awaiting.

Harsh statements have begun to emerge from both candidates ahead of the election. Aziz Yıldırım responded to Ali Koç's statements regarding him.

"Now they are implying that I am a FETÖ member," said Yıldırım, adding, "You won't find a FETÖ member in me. You will find a Kemalist, a patriot, and a secular Fenerbahçe supporter, nothing else. They are trying to provoke me by making such claims about me. But we will focus on our work. We have a lot of work to do."

WHAT DID ALİ KOÇ SAY?

Fenerbahçe's current president and presidential candidate Ali Koç used the following words at a meeting where he came together with congress members on Monday evening:

"I am trying to choose my words carefully. President Aziz also has more contradictory statements regarding the organization's leader after 2013. My stance is the same; it may be wrong, it may be right, but my stance is the same." President Aziz is someone who attaches great importance to Republican values, and we have also been shaped by him; he is someone who values them, and Fenerbahçe also has a stance on these issues in its DNA. Unfortunately, this has been dragged into politics over time. Because Republican values have become a political tool. It is not for us. Just as the first four articles of the constitution cannot be debated, the values we defend cannot be debated either. We are not doing politics or anything like that; politics has entered the field we defend. I don't think President Aziz, I, or the presidents after us will change their position here. There are also those who say, 'Get along well with the system.' We cannot be like that. Fenerbahçe has a stance on these issues. The continuation of this is in the hands of millions. I also want to say this: President Aziz asks, 'Who wants to stop us?' He is also trying to push us into politics. But Aziz Yıldırım is the one who already called me a project; Aziz Yıldırım is the one who called me a FETÖ project. That is why I do not respond when the president of the opposing team calls me a project. Because he will turn around and say, 'Your president said so.' It is also Aziz Yıldırım who put the idea into Ankara's head that I am doing this for politics. I had a remark the other day. I said, 'Look in the mirror. You are one of those who want to stop us.' If you ask me, President Aziz's number one priority at his age and in his current health is to take revenge for 2018. We know that he has told this to his close circle."
