Fenerbahçe President Aziz Yıldırım responded with a written statement to claims made by sports commentator Emre Bol during a YouTube broadcast.
Following the controversy that began after Bol claimed that Yıldırım's daughter, Yaz Yıldırım, had spoken on the phone with yellow-navy players Mert Hakan Yandaş and İrfan Can Kahveci, Yıldırım reacted to the implication that these conversations influenced the team's squad selections.
In the statement shared on the Fenerbahçe Club's official social media account, Yıldırım stated that the phone calls in question were natural and used the following expressions regarding the team's technical management:
What is wrong with a child talking to people she sees as older brothers and with whom the family socializes? What are you trying to imply? The head coach of the Fenerbahçe football team is İsmail Kartal. He manages both the team and the squad. Trying to create an implication about squad selections through my daughter's conversations with players is rude.
In his statement, Yıldırım also reminded Emre Bol of certain television statements made during the July 3 process, arguing that he should be held accountable for the claims he made in the past.
Addressing Bol directly at the end of the statement, Yıldırım requested that criticisms be directed at him and stated that his daughter should not be dragged into these discussions.
I am here. If you have something to say, a criticism to make, or something to attack, attack me. But do not involve my daughter in your dirty arguments.
