Barış Göktürk: I am coming to fight for Fenerbahçe

Former Fenerbahçe Futbol AŞ Board Member and presidential candidate Barış Göktürk made assessments regarding the club's sporting structure, economic model, stadium project, amateur branches, and the election agenda during a broadcast on a digital platform. Stating that he is a third-generation representative of a family that has been in industry for 70 years, Göktürk said that in his 22-year business career, he transformed a medium-sized family company into a group of companies operating on an international scale. Göktürk expressed that he has been part of the Fenerbahçe community for many years, has been a congress member for 25 years, and has taken on active roles in club management processes during different periods.

Noting that he was a candidate for the board on Aziz Yıldırım's list in 2018 and served on the Fenerbahçe Futbol AŞ Board of Directors in 2024, Göktürk mentioned that he has had the opportunity to work with the last three presidents at various levels.

"Not a strong president, but a strong Fenerbahçe"

Göktürk emphasized that Fenerbahçe needs a model independent of individuals for lasting success. He stated that the club must be managed with a professional football mindset, a strong financial structure, and a sustainable model for sporting success.

"8 championships in 40 years is not enough"

Pointing out that Fenerbahçe has been champion 8 times in the last 40 years, Göktürk highlighted the number of championships reached by rivals in the same period and said that the club should aim for a much stronger standard of success.

Göktürk expressed that in the coming period, Fenerbahçe should talk not only about periodic successes but about a sustainable championship model.

Hybrid technical staff model

Stating that he does not find the distinction between domestic and foreign coaches correct regarding the choice of head coach, Göktürk said that a hybrid model would be healthier for Fenerbahçe. He stated that if a domestic head coach is chosen, a model supported by foreign professionals is needed, and if a foreign head coach is chosen, a model supported by domestic professionals who know Turkey is required.

"Amateur branches must achieve a sustainable structure within their own budgets"

Making assessments regarding amateur branches, Göktürk stated that no branch would be closed. Saying that the branches must achieve a sustainable structure within their own budgets, Göktürk expressed that business partnerships, association models, and investor structures could be evaluated in branches such as basketball and volleyball.

Assessment of Aziz Yıldırım and Ali Koç

Stating that former presidents Aziz Yıldırım and Ali Koç are important assets for Fenerbahçe, Göktürk said that the community should focus on the future instead of being divided over past periods. Emphasizing that it is no longer individuals but models that should be discussed at Fenerbahçe, Barış Göktürk drew attention to the importance of a professional football structure, a strong economic model, stadium capacity expansion, a loyalty program, a corporate culture where employees are valued, and a new-generation approach to club management for the future of the club.
