Başakşehir devastated in stoppage time in UEFA Conference League

In the 4th matchday of the UEFA Conference League, Başakşehir hosted Moldovan side Petrocub.

In the match played at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, a goal scored by Petrocub's Teodor Lungu in the 4th minute was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

Creating consecutive chances and threatening the opponent's goal, Başakşehir won a penalty in the 42nd minute. The referee pointed to the penalty spot after Petrocub's Douanla handled the ball during Piatek's attempt.

Piatek stepped up to the spot and sent the ball into the net to make the score 1-0.

The first half of the match ended with Başakşehir leading 1-0.

In the 50th minute, Petrocub goalkeeper Smaelena was shown a straight red card for handling the ball outside the penalty area. Following a VAR review, it was determined that there was a foul prior to the incident, and Smaelena's red card was rescinded.

Petrocub equalized the score to 1-1 in the 90+6th minute with a header from Ion Bors.

There were no further goals in the remainder of the match, and Başakşehir had to settle for 1 point in a game they dominated and led for the majority of the time.

In the Conference League, Başakşehir increased their points to 2 and currently sit in 31st place with a game in hand. Petrocub, having earned their first point, are in 33rd place with 1 point.

Başakşehir will face German side Heidenheim at home in the 5th matchday of the Conference League, while Petrocub will host Real Betis.
