"Bedbug infestation" in Paris causes concern ahead of the Olympics

Government Spokesperson Olivier Veran stated in an interview with RTL radio that they are prioritizing the fight against pests just as they did in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to reports in the national press, bedbugs, which have been seen in beds as well as on trains, in subways, cinemas, and hospitals in Paris, have become an issue large enough to disturb the government. Veran claimed that the bedbugs in Paris have multiplied due to climate change.
Arguing that the problem appears larger because the foreign press has brought the issue to the agenda, Veran stated that the government will resolve the matter decisively.
Due to numerous images reflected on social media showing bedbugs almost everywhere in Paris, city residents and shopkeepers are concerned that the Olympic events to be held here next year will be negatively affected.
Because of the bedbug "infestation" in Paris, which has frequently been the subject of news in the international press, the opposition has criticized the government on the grounds that "the country's image is being damaged."
Right-wing and left-wing deputies stated that they had drawn attention to this problem years ago and accused the government of ignoring the issue.
Model Adriana Lima also complained about bedbugs
On the other hand, famous model Adriana Lima, who came to Paris to attend Paris Fashion Week, also complained about the bedbugs in Paris.
Lima shared a picture on her Instagram account with the phrase "Hint... bedbugs" and a smiley emoji.
While the bedbug problem remains on the country's agenda, the ruling wing announced yesterday that it would submit a bill to Parliament in December to combat the issue.
