Benfica vs. Chelsea match suspended

The excitement of the round of 16 is underway at the FIFA Club World Cup held in the USA. Portuguese side Benfica, which finished as the leader of Group C, faced Chelsea, the runner-up of Group D. National team player Orkun Kökçü started in the starting eleven for the match, which was officiated by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic. The first half ended goalless, but Chelsea took control of the game in the second half. In the 64th minute, following a free kick won from the right flank, Reece James sent a direct shot toward the goal, finding the back of the net to the right of goalkeeper Trubin.

National team player Kerem Aktürkoğlu entered the game in the 46th minute, replacing Schjelderup.

In the 86th minute of the match, referee Vincic stopped play due to a storm warning and lightning, sending players from both teams to the locker rooms. Following an announcement at the match played in Charlotte, the stands were quickly evacuated, and it was announced that the match had been suspended.

The remainder of the match will be played on a date to be announced by FIFA, at which point the side advancing to the quarter-finals will be determined.
