Bernardo Silva: 'I want to return'

Manchester City's Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva gave an interview to A Bola.

When asked about a return to Benfica, Silva said, "I have never hidden that I want to return one day. So, of course, I want to return. We will see what is possible over time. It is not worth talking about this constantly because people get tired of it. We will see..."

The Portuguese star, who said he is tired of commenting on a return to Benfica, added, "I have a contract now that must be respected. And there is a reality; Portuguese football cannot compete financially with English, Spanish, German, and French clubs. For example, even if I wanted to go to Benfica right now, it would be impossible because Manchester City would ask for a lot of money for me. In the last four or five years, I have been a player valued at over 50 million euros. It is impossible for a Portuguese club to pay that kind of value. People need to be a bit realistic."

Bernardo Silva, whose current market value is listed at 80 million euros, has a contract with Manchester City that runs until 2026.

Silva, who grew up in the Benfica youth academy, later signed with Monaco and then Manchester City.
