It has been claimed that Beşiktaş is preparing to take a new step regarding controversial referee decisions during matches. It was stated that the black-and-white management will receive consultancy services from a former referee to evaluate critical positions in matches.

According to a report by the Sabah newspaper, the club plans to reintroduce the "referee consultant" practice, which had previously been on the agenda. In this context, the former referee with whom an agreement has been reached is expected to examine positions that cause controversy in Beşiktaş matches in real-time.

It was reported that the consultant referee's evaluations will be turned into reports, and if a situation requiring an objection is identified in these reports, the Beşiktaş management will take action before the Turkish Football Federation.

It was stated that the black-and-white club will also benefit from the consultant's expert opinions in the statements it makes to the public regarding referee decisions. Thus, it was noted that the club aims to place its objection processes on a more systematic foundation.

Beşiktaş had resorted to a similar practice in the 2024-2025 season before the Galatasaray derby. At that time, former Swiss referee Urs Meier was brought to Istanbul, and his opinions regarding the referee's decisions in the derby were obtained in real-time and shared on the club's social media accounts.
