Beşiktaş had broken its silence during the mid-season transfer window by adding young talents to its squad. The fact that one of these names, 20-year-old Elan Ricardo, had not yet taken the field had sparked curiosity among fans. Head Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had stated that Ricardo was not yet ready.
Beşiktaş President Serdal Adalı made an important statement regarding Ricardo's health status. Adalı said, "We brought Ricardo to the facilities, he got sick. He had swine flu, but he has been cleared and there is no problem for now. If necessary, I will loan Elan Ricardo to an Istanbul team at the beginning of the season," he said. Adalı added that he believes Ricardo will show his potential.
Beşiktaş's other signing, 18-year-old Keny Arroyo, has already won the appreciation of fans by appearing in three matches. When Ricardo will return to the pitch remains a subject of curiosity.
