Beşiktaş reacts to 'fan' decision ahead of Twente match

Beşiktaş will face Dutch side Twente away in the 8th week of the UEFA Europa League.

A decision has been made to prohibit Black-and-White fans from attending the match, which will be played in the city of Enschede.

The following statement was released on Beşiktaş's official social media account:

"Enschede Mayor Roelof Bleker has arbitrarily decided to ban our fans from attending the UEFA Europa League match that our Football A Team will play against FC Twente at the FC Twente Stadion on January 30, 2025, by presenting justifications that lack legal basis and reality.

We consider the attitude displayed by Enschede Mayor Roelof Bleker towards our fans to be discriminatory, as he accepted away team fans in the matches FC Twente played this season in the UEFA Europa League against Union Saint-Gilloise, Lazio, and Fenerbahçe, and we do not accept this decision.

"HE HAS SIGNED AN UNJUST DECISION"

Enschede Mayor Roelof Bleker has signed an extremely unjust decision by turning a deaf ear to our call not to take any action before the meeting to be held on Tuesday, December 17, with the participation of our club, UEFA, FC Twente, and Enschede Municipality officials regarding the match in question.

Although the host club FC Twente and UEFA have conveyed their discomfort regarding this issue to us and Mayor Bleker, Roelof Bleker, who cannot ensure security in the city where he serves as mayor, has taken the easy way out and ruled that our fans will not be admitted to the match with baseless excuses.

Bleker, who took this decision shortly before the match without any consultation with us after the date of the FC Twente-Beşiktaş match was announced by UEFA on August 31, 2024, as January 30, 2025, has also left our fans, who made travel plans to be with our team in a match that is of great importance for our club to advance to the next round, in a difficult situation.

As Beşiktaş JK, we would like to inform the public that we will defend the rights of our club and our fans to the end, and that we will make initiatives before our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UEFA for Enschede Mayor Roelof Bleker to reverse his unlawful decision."
