"Our Fenerbahçe Beko Men's Basketball Team has reached an agreement with Lithuanian head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius until the end of the 2025-26 season.
Who is Sarunas Jasikevicius?
Born on March 5, 1976, in Kaunas, the capital of Lithuania, Sarunas Jasikevicius played for many important teams during his playing career, including Lietuvos Rytas, Union Olimpija, FC Barcelona, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, Panathinaikos, Zalgiris Kaunas, and our own Fenerbahçe. Jasikevicius began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Zalgiris Kaunas in 2014 and was appointed head coach of the team in 2016.
Serving with Zalgiris Kaunas between 2016 and 2020, Jasikevicius played a role in the team's five league championships during this period, as well as three Lithuanian Cup titles. As one of the architects of Zalgiris Kaunas' resurgence on the EuroLeague stage during this time, Jasikevicius led his team to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2018 after many years. With the successful coach, Zalgiris also played in the EuroLeague Playoffs in 2019, maintaining its consistency at the highest level.
Following his career filled with successes, Sarunas Jasikevicius was appointed head coach of Barcelona in 2020, where he achieved the success of reaching the Final Four three times with the Catalan team, while also winning two Spanish League titles and two Spanish Cup championships.
