The possibility of a departure has strengthened for Bruma, who is reportedly not in manager Marco Silva's plans for the new season at Benfica. According to a report from the Portuguese press outlet Record, the 31-year-old footballer has made leaving the club and playing in the Süper Lig again his top priorities.

In the first week of the Portuguese League season, Benfica drew 2-2 at home against Academico de Viseu. Bruma was not included in the squad for this match. It was reported that the experienced winger is not participating in team training sessions and is continuing his work separately.

Bruma, who transferred to Benfica during the 2024/25 mid-season window, was only able to feature in 3 matches for the Portuguese side last season. It was stated that the player, who previously struggled to find playing time during the Jose Mourinho era, has also not been preferred following Silva's appointment.

Bruma, who began his football career in the Sporting youth academy, stepped into his Turkish career by transferring to Galatasaray in 2013. The Portuguese footballer later played for Fenerbahçe on loan. Bruma, whose career also includes teams such as Braga, PSV, Leipzig, and Olympiakos, last returned to Turkey in 2023 wearing the Fenerbahçe jersey.
