Busenaz Sürmeneli becomes European champion. Competed in the final for the first time
Olympic and world champion national boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli has won the first European championship of her career.

Busenaz Sürmeneli defeated Russian boxer Albina Moldazhanova 5-0 in the 66kg final at the European Elite Boxing Championships held in Serbia, reaching the gold medal that was the only one missing from her career.
Busenaz Sürmeneli, who previously held two bronze medals from the European championships held in Alcobendas in 2019 and Budva in 2022, made history by reaching the top spot at the 2024 European Boxing Championships, where she competed in the final for the first time.

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak congratulated national athletes Busenaz Sürmeneli and Buse Naz Çakıroğlu, who won gold medals at the 2024 European Boxing Championships held in Serbia.
Minister Bak included the following statements in his congratulatory message:
