The Portuguese Football Federation has sent a letter to the TFF stating that it is possible to appoint Turkish referees to league matches in Portugal following the attack on Halil Umut Meler.

In the letter sent from Portugal to the TFF, it was stated, "Following the referee attack that occurred, I would like to inform you that we are ready to assign Turkish referees in Portugal in order to support Turkish referees and ensure the preservation of competition."

Furthermore, the letter included the words, "We can work together to strengthen and protect refereeing, and to provide a safe and fair environment for everyone involved in sports. We should all be concerned about the safety of referees. We must protect referees, who play a vital role in fair competition."

Following the attack on Halil Umut Meler in the Super Lig, the leagues were postponed, and Mehmet Büyükekşi announced in his latest statement that they will resume from where they left off on December 19.
