Süper Lig side Samsunsporannounced that it has received a 2-window transfer ban.
In the statement, it was reported that the decision was upheld by CAS, and the statement noted, "Our club will be unable to make transfers for two windows, including the upcoming 'winter and summer' transfer periods." it said.
"NO TRANSFERS WILL BE MADE DURING THE WINTER AND SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOWS FOR TWO PERIODS"
The statement issued by the club included the following:
"As you are aware, a decision containing a two-window transfer ban was conveyed to our club by FIFA in July. In response to this unjust transfer ban, we appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) alongside our lawyers.
During this process, in order to prove our case, we hired one of Switzerland's most renowned and experienced law firms. Our Swiss lawyers made all necessary filings with CAS and held numerous meetings with CAS officials, including a five-hour hearing."
The fundamental point of our argument was that we had reached a mutual agreement with our former player Arvydas Novikovas and his lawyer prior to the date of the FIFA decision. Our former player and his lawyer, who were considered the opposing party in the FIFA case, stood by us during the CAS case and hearing, supporting all of our statements. However, FIFA ignored all these statements and all the evidence presented, and argued strongly for our club to be penalized in the CAS case. The underlying reason for this is, unfortunately, the poor track record that our Turkish clubs have internationally, particularly in FIFA and CAS cases.
We wanted you to hear the CAS decision from us. According to the aforementioned decision, unexpectedly, FIFA's unjust ruling was upheld by CAS, and our club will be unable to make transfers for two windows, including the upcoming 'winter and summer' transfer periods.
"WE WILL OVERCOME THIS DIFFICULTY TOGETHER"
As a result of this unjust decision, FIFA has dealt a serious blow not only to our club but to Turkish football and our Turkish football clubs.
To the great Samsunspor fans, who have supported their team selflessly regardless of the circumstances, both before we were promoted to the Süper Lig as champions, during our championship year, and afterwards in the Süper Lig;
As Samsunspor, we have gone through very difficult conditions on our path to the Süper Lig, but we have never given up. Perhaps today we are experiencing one of the most difficult days in our club's history. But by embracing each other more than ever and supporting one another, we will overcome this challenge together. We will not be able to make transfers for the next two windows, but during this difficult process, our Club President, Mr. Yüksel Yıldırım, will take the necessary steps regarding the integration of our club and our community, and we will inform you about these matters.
The only request from our club and our President, Mr. Yüksel Yıldırım, is that you do what you have always done, but even more so now, and stand by your club and your team.
We love you.. Please love Samsunspor more than we do and protect it.."
