The logo and colors of the Women's Basketball League team Çukurova Basketbol have been changed.
At a press launch held at the club's facilities, the team's general coordinator Ender Ünlü and vice president Ali Adalıoğlu made statements regarding the changes to the name, logo, and colors. Ünlü stated that they made minor changes to the logo, colors, and team name. Noting that they started their journey as Çukurova Basketbol and later transitioned to ÇBK Mersin, Ünlü said, "Our name already covers this geography. That was our purpose in choosing this name. We want to be known as ÇBK Mersin from now on, so that Mersin can embrace us and so that we can be Mersin's team. For example, just like CSKA Moscow, we wanted to have 'ÇBK' but also have our city's name at the end. Because we represent this city. There is no change in our logo. It is still the lynx that lives in the Taurus Mountains. However, this time we placed a front-facing view. Because one of the lynx's most prominent features is its ears. We thought that this would be clearer, reflect us better, and provide more interaction and focus. Our colors were white, orange, and dark navy blue. We experienced a very unfortunate earthquake in our country. It affected this geography, the Çukurova region, and nearby areas the most. Since we cannot wear a black jersey for every match, we changed our dark navy blue color to black to commemorate them in every match we play. In this way, we wanted to show that we are always by their side and that we are in this struggle together with them."
Stating that they are the city's team and that they have chosen 'the city's team' as their slogan, Ünlü said that they have achieved significant success in both the Final Four and the play-offs. Explaining that they both added value to the city and made the country proud during the FIBA Women's EuroLeague Final Four held in Mersin, Ünlü said, "Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer, and Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit made significant contributions to this success. You, the members of the press, also enabled us to integrate with the public. As Mersin, we did all of this together."
Providing information regarding the interaction data on social media during the FIBA Women's EuroLeague Final Four process held in Mersin, Ünlü continued as follows:
THE TEAM THAT REPRESENTS OUR CITY BEST
"Unfortunately, since sports in our country are football-oriented, I am trying to explain these things because I don't think it is widely known where we play in women's basketball and in the EuroLeague, or who we reach. This continues to increase day by day. We have a very large port in our city and we have very large companies. Our organized industrial zone is growing every day. And Mersin is getting rid of being stuck between Adana and Antalya and is becoming a much larger industrial city, becoming a global brand. I think the biggest brand value that represents Mersin in the best way in the world is ÇBK Mersin."
