Champions League final in Istanbul becomes one of the most-watched live sporting events

The Champions League final match, played at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium on June 10, 2023, took second place on the list prepared by considering the global audience for annual sporting events between 2021 and 2023.

The number of live viewers for the final match, in which Manchester City defeated Inter 1-0 to secure their first victory in the tournament's history, reached 140.4 million.

In addition to the Champions League final, the match between Manchester City and Liverpool in the English Premier League during the 2021-2022 season became the third most-watched live sporting event. The UEFA Europa League final, played between Spanish side Sevilla and Italy's Roma on May 31, 2023, found its place at 4th on the list with 47.3 million live viewers.

The 57th Super Bowl match, held last year between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League (NFL), took the top spot on the list.

The Chiefs-Eagles clash, played on February 13, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in the US state of Arizona, reached 145.9 million live viewers.

The list also included the 6th game of the 2022 NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics with 43.4 million, the 2022 Formula 1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix with 34.2 million, the Real Madrid-Barcelona match played in the 2021-2022 LaLiga season with 30.7 million, and the 12th stage of the 2022 Tour de France with 17.3 million live viewers.
