Every team participating in the UEFA Champions League is required to submit a squad list of no more than 25 players to UEFA. It is mandatory for this 25-man list to include at least two goalkeepers. At least four of the players on the list must have played for that club for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21.
Additionally, four other players must have played for any club in the league where that team competes for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21. Clubs that cannot meet this eight-player criterion must reduce their 25-man list by one player for every player they fail to account for in that quota.
There is a different criterion for players born on or after January 1, 1995. If these players have worn the club's jersey for at least three years after the age of 15, the club has unlimited registration rights for these players.
It remains uncertain whether Lucas Vazquez and Nacho Fernandez, who were raised in the Real Madrid youth academy and are important names to avoid squad restrictions in the Champions League, will remain with the team.
