In the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup Group D, English side Chelsea faced off against MLS team Los Angeles FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Blues secured a clear 2-0 victory, marking a strong start to the tournament.
The first goal of the match came in the 34th minute from Pedro Neto.
Continuing their dominant performance, Chelsea increased the pressure in the second half.
In the 79th minute, Enzo Fernandez scored the team's second goal, sealing the final score. The assist for this goal came from new signing Liam Delap, who had come on as a substitute.
With this result, Chelsea earned three points in Group D, while Los Angeles FC left their first match without any points.
In the next round of group matches, Chelsea will face Brazilian side Flamengo, while Los Angeles FC will take on Tunisian club Esperance.
