Samsunspor has announced that head coach Markus Gisdol will not continue in his role for the new season.
In a post shared on the club's social media account, it was stated that negotiations were held with Gisdol for the new season, noting: “Several meetings have been held to date between our club management and our head coach Markus Gisdol, with whom we walked together during the 2023/24 football season and whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and our club has conveyed at every opportunity that it wishes to work with him in the new season as well. Although we presented our final offer for him to stay during our last meeting, Markus Gisdol has not changed his decision; in short, despite all efforts to persuade him, he has stated that he does not wish to continue with us in the new season. Gisdol expressed that he is very happy with our club, our city, and the support of our fans, that he wants to be remembered here only with success, and that he has decided to leave because he does not want to repeat the bad and unsuccessful experiences he had in the past at Samsunspor. He has repeatedly stated that if he ever considers working in Turkey again, this club would be none other than Samsunspor. On behalf of the entire Samsunspor community, our fans, management, and staff, we would like to thank Markus Gisdol and his team, who succeeded in keeping Samsunspor in the Süper Lig after a long absence and contributed greatly to our club's success, and we wish them success in their future careers. He will share the necessary detailed statements on this matter with you, the esteemed public, through our club's official channels today or tomorrow” the statement read.
It was stated that a detailed explanation regarding the matter will be made within a few days.
