While certain incidents in the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby continue to be debated, harsh statements filled with reactions, particularly from Beşiktaş executives, were directed at the match referee and the VAR official.
While it was wondered what further steps the executives, who conveyed their complaints about the referees to the TFF, might take, lawyer Ali Fethi Gürler announced with a document he shared on his social media account that he had filed a criminal complaint against the match referee and the VAR official.
In his post, Gürler used the following expressions:
"We have taken the refereeing performance that occurred during the Beşiktaş-GS derby on March 7, 2026, which does not align with the justice of football, to the judiciary; we have filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the match referee and the VAR official for the crime of 'Abuse of Office'."
