Emirhan Delibaş and Berkay Vardar, whose contracts were terminated by Fatih Karagümrük on August 27 and who are currently free agents, issued a joint statement on their social media accounts regarding the matter.
The statement read, "Today, we feel compelled to share a very sensitive situation regarding our careers and personal lives with you. The fact that the results of the routine doping tests conducted at the beginning of the season came back positive (both A and B samples testing positive) has deeply saddened both us and our loved ones.
We are aware that this is a matter that will cast a shadow over our sports careers and reputations. However, we would like to state with all our hearts that this result is the outcome of an event that developed outside of our knowledge and control. When we investigated the matter in detail, we learned that a prohibited substance was used during a treatment method applied by our personal trainer (an individual named T.K.) without our knowledge.
This substance entered our bodies through an injection administered to us. Not only did we have no knowledge of the substance in question or its intended use, but this situation is a great disappointment for us as it was carried out by a person we trusted and believed to be working with many professional players.
Regarding this incident, we would like to state that we have initiated the necessary legal processes and that, at this stage, we will also file the necessary criminal complaints and lawsuits for material and moral damages against the individual named T.K. We are providing all kinds of cooperation for justice to be served and for all the facts to emerge, and we are conducting this process transparently.
Throughout our lives, we have always been people who believed in the importance of hard work, discipline, and fair play. All our successes on the field have been earned with our sweat; we do not tolerate unfairness or injustice. This unfortunate event serves as a great lesson for us and has shown us once again that we must be much more careful in the future. Those who know us have never lost their faith in our character and our understanding of sports. We sincerely thank everyone who has stood by us and trusted us during this difficult process. We have full faith that our names will be completely cleared, and we know that when this process is over, we will be remembered only for our successes again," the statement said.
