The Galatasaray October council meeting was held at the Özhan Canaydın Conference Hall, located at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex RAMS Park. Following the statements made by council members during the meeting, Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek provided his response.
Emphasizing that Galatasaray Island should not be brought up for discussion in any way, Özbek said, "They are trying to provoke the community, using expressions like, 'The management has sold everything, now Galatasaray Island might be sold.' Can Galatasaray Island be sold? What kind of mind would even think of this? Can a person who brings such a matter to the agenda be a true Galatasaray supporter? I don't think so. Galatasaray Island cannot be sold. Don't even bother yourselves. Neither you nor I can sell it. No one can sell Galatasaray Island. Write this down in your minds. Anyone who wants to sell Galatasaray Island cannot claim to be a Galatasaray supporter," he said.
"I DO NOT AGREE WITH THAT"
Stating that it is no one's place to call the explanations of the activities they have carried out as management during council meetings a 'lullaby,' the president of the yellow-reds said, "I am obliged to explain that we are here to serve you and to tell you about the services we have been able to provide. Otherwise, I do not think we have the opportunity to talk about anything other than what we have done. It would be inappropriate to use the things we say in a meaningful sentence like a 'lullaby.' Whether you like the investments made or not is a separate matter. He wants to say something different by calling it a 'lullaby,' and I do not agree with that," he stated.
Providing information about the work being done regarding the pitch at RAMS Park, Özbek said, "Maintenance regarding the pitch receiving sunlight is very difficult. Despite this, we are trying to prepare it in the best way possible. During the international break, we will make the pitch even more perfect with the additional hybrid grass we will install," he said.
"WHAT IS A FOOTBALL MIND?"
Responding to criticisms regarding the lack of a 'football mind,' Dursun Özbek said, "What is a football mind? What kind of thing is it? I will try to find out. Because everyone who comes along says, 'You need a football mind.' Is a football mind one person? I had to give such an answer last time as well: 'We have been champions for 3 years, do we not have a mind?' The football mind is the team's coach. He sets up the team, no one else can interfere, and he provides the list of deficiencies when transfers are being made. He writes reports to the management within the framework of the information he gathers. The coach has 11-12 assistants. He has assistants who support him in every matter. While these are on one side, we have a scouting team for transfers, and scouts who watch on-site. This is an organization; the information coming from here goes to the coach. They then field the appropriate team and have them play. While all of this exists, if you bring in a 'football mind,' if it's a sporting director, that's something else; when you say 'football mind,' where do you place this 'football mind' within this entire group? If our friends explain this next time, we will have learned it," he said, concluding his remarks.
