Dursun Özbek's transfer calculation: 50 million euro difference

Galatasaray Sports Club President Dursun Özbek made statements regarding the transfer process, the club's facility projects, and new season goals at the yellow-red club's September ordinary board of trustees meeting held at Galatasaray High School.

Giving a message regarding the new academic year, Özbek emphasized that Galatasaray's roots come from education. Commemorating Galatasaray legend Metin Oktay, Özbek said that Oktay was one of the community's most important values, not only with the goals he scored but also with his loyalty to the club, his character, and his sportsmanship.

EMPHASIS ON FINANCIAL BALANCE IN TRANSFERS

One of the most notable topics at the meeting was the summer transfer window. Evaluating criticisms that transfers were delayed, Özbek stated that they began planning from the day the championship was won.

Özbek expressed that not only sporting needs but also the club's financial structure were taken into account during the transfer process, saying, "It was important for us to make transfers that would best complete Galatasaray's deficiencies and not put the club in a difficult position in terms of financing. That is why there were delays."

The president of the yellow-red club, while acknowledging the importance of early transfers, pointed to the cost difference. Özbek stated, "If we had made the transfers we made in July, the difference would have been around 50 million euros. I think we had a successful transfer period."

Reminding that the football team became the Trendyol Süper Lig champion for the 4th consecutive time, Özbek said they reached a total of 26 championships. Sharing the new season goals, Özbek expressed that they want to be champions for the 5th consecutive time, win the 27th championship, and achieve successes worthy of Galatasaray in Europe.

Özbek explained that progress has also been made in the club's facility and real estate projects. Stating that deliveries have partially started in the Leo Residence project, Özbek described the Aslantepe Valley as the "project of the century for Galatasaray." The sports complex, planned on an area of approximately 62 decares, is aimed to serve basketball, volleyball, swimming, and indoor sports.

Touching on the Florya project, Özbek explained the process carried out to bring the 65-decare area to Galatasaray. Stating that the public-owned portion was purchased for 1 billion 85 million liras as a result of negotiations, Özbek said that the title deed was transferred to the club and the debt was assumed by the Galatasaray Club.

Stating that the first phase of the Kemerburgaz facilities has been completed, Özbek noted that the licensing problems in the second phase have been overcome and that the infrastructure and women's football team in Florya will be moved there as soon as possible.

Providing information about the club's new revenue project "Cafe il Gala," Özbek said that the first store will open in Mecidiyeköy and that work is underway for a second store on Beyoğlu İstiklal Street. Özbek noted that their goal is to reach 10 "Cafe il Gala" stores and then generate revenue through a franchise model in Turkey and abroad.

Stating that their goals are not limited to the football team, Özbek said they want to create teams that compete for championships in every field where the Galatasaray jersey is present, including basketball, volleyball, women's football, and other branches.
