Dursun Özbek's take on Mourinho: 'He is a very important figure'

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek made statements following his visit to Anıtkabir. Stating that Galatasaray's mission is to defeat European teams, Özbek said, "We are preparing for that now. I send my greetings to all my Galatasaray fans and those who love Galatasaray from here. I want them to decorate their cities with yellow and red flags now, and I wish for a great year for all football clubs in Turkey in the new season. Now is the preparation period. The leagues will start in a while. It will be a beautiful competition," he said. 

Answering a journalist's question about 'what kind of team we will see for the Champions League', Özbek spoke as follows: 

"We will play in the Champions League play-offs. Therefore, preparations for that have been underway for a long time. Unfortunately, the race this year was between 2 teams. In other words, the teams that would go to the Champions League were clear long ago. That is why our preparations started very early. We are ready, God willing, and we are working to build a team that will satisfy our fans and make them happy. The league is important, of course, but our main goal is to achieve success in Europe. No one should worry, we are ready." 

"MOURINHO IS A VERY IMPORTANT FIGURE"

Evaluating Fenerbahçe's agreement with the world-famous Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho upon being asked, Özbek said the following:

"Mourinho is a very important figure. It seems that the impact Galatasaray created last season has worried other teams quite a bit. That is why they are working much harder this year with very high costs, that is how it appears. It makes no difference. Galatasaray is Galatasaray. Galatasaray is always a winning team. Especially when it comes to May, everyone knows who May belongs to, whose May it is. It will be the same from now on. We are preparing for the fifth star. God willing, we will have attached the fifth star at the end of the upcoming season."
