Earthquake in Turkish football: New details emerge regarding the referee betting scandal!

While Turkish Football Federation President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu's statement that "371 referees have betting accounts" has caused a stir, it has emerged that the prosecutorial process regarding the matter began much earlier. It has been learned that the TFF filed a criminal complaint in April and that 11 referees also made individual applications.

The statement by Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu that "active referees are betting" has created an earthquake effect in the sports community.

According to the report by journalist Murat Ağırel, the TFF made an official application to the prosecutor's office regarding the matter in April of this year. The federation requested that the allegations regarding the betting accounts of active referees be investigated and that all details be brought to light.

11 REFEREES FILE INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS

Following this development, 11 referees made individual applications to the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. 

FILE TRANSFERRED TO ISTANBUL

According to the information shared by Murat Ağırel, the applications in question were consolidated last week and the file was transferred to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Currently, there are 12 different complainants in the investigation file in Istanbul, including the TFF.

It has been learned that the prosecutor's office is examining the file comprehensively for all parties and that new evidence is being investigated.

"THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING"

Ağırel shared the latest information regarding the file in a post on his X (Twitter) account.

Ağırel used the following expressions:

"We had spoken about the file before; I even shared all the details on the Onlar TV broadcast last Thursday.

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) applied to the prosecutor's office in April and requested an investigation into the matter.

Later, 11 referees made individual applications to the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Last week, these files were consolidated and transferred to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Currently, there are 12 separate complainants in the file at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, including the TFF.

The prosecutor's office is examining the file in depth for all parties."

Stating that the statements made by TFF President Hacıosmanoğlu are also correct, Ağırel added the following:

"And this is just the beginning.

There are active goalkeepers and football players who bet. As I wrote in my book 'Kirli Çark' (Dirty Wheel)...

This investigation will continue to grow."
