Following the 1-1 draw against Beşiktaş at home, Ankaragücü manager Emre Belözoğlu responded to a question regarding his statement that he is a 'Fenerbahçe fan' by saying, "I am a Fenerbahçe fan, but when I face Fenerbahçe one day, I will work for the success of the club that provides my livelihood."

Ankaragücü drew 1-1 with Beşiktaş in Ankara during the 14th week of the Süper Lig.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ankaragücü manager Emre Belözoğlu began by thanking the MKE Ankaragücü fans who supported them throughout the match.

"I THINK WE WERE THE SIDE THAT MISSED OUT ON 2 POINTS"

Belözoğlu stated, "Our greatest desire was to gift the 3 points to our fans. Looking at the big picture, I think my players wanted it. I believe we were the side that missed out on 2 points. We were up against a big team with very valuable and important players. In my life, 1 point has never been a result that makes me happy. I see this as a step, albeit a small one, toward achieving a winning, non-losing identity."

Responding to a question regarding his recent statement that he is a 'Fenerbahçe fan', Belözoğlu said, "I have been receiving criticism in this country since I was 16 years old. I have also faced very serious slanders. I am a Fenerbahçe fan, and one day, no matter which team I am in against Fenerbahçe—I did this at Başakşehir, and with God's permission, I will do it here—I will work for the club that provides my livelihood and expects something from me. I will continue to do my best for the success of Ankaragücü, no matter who I face. Unfortunately, there is a populist structure in Turkey. There is a structure that wants to manage perception. I have never been their toy. For me, there is one reality: football and serving football. I was a player, manager, and sporting director for Fenerbahçe during very important periods. I will never refrain from saying I am a Fenerbahçe fan. But in an Ankaragücü-Fenerbahçe match, I will put everything on the line for Ankaragücü to win."
